Welcome back! I'm so glad you're here with me again today. We are fixing our
minds on Christ and walking through a short devotional series on the book of
Colossians.
Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, God’s wrath comes on the disobedient, and you once walked in these things when you were living in them. But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth."
Colossians 3:5-8
Anytime a passage starts with the word "therefore" we need to
look back into the context to discover what the therefore is there for! In the
case of Colossians, it is because Christ is in us t- he hope of glory.
It's because we're
his ambassadors, because we're to be shining for Him day by day that we want to
put off these fleshly deeds, as Paul described. We don't want to just put them off sometimes. For instance, we don't want
to just put them off in preparation for Sunday because we might see the pastor.
We don't want to put them off because we might get caught or because we might
offend someone. No, we want to put them off once and for all and get rid of
them from our lives.
Today's Challenges
Now, we know that it's not just as easy as flipping a switch
and saying "okay all of those deeds are gone from my life." So, my
first challenge today, and ask God to prompt your heart in this, is to determine in what area He would you like you to start, and what's the biggest priority to Him. Which of
these things in your life are the most offensive to Him? Which one of these
things is holding you back from the blessing the Lord has for you? Discover
what that is and ask Him to help you get started. Pick one area and really
focus on that.
My next challenge is to stay in prayer and
continue to seek the Lord. I know that is a common theme throughout this
devotion but without His prompting and guidance we are just spinning our
wheels. Seek the Lord and continue to ask Him day by day "What is it that
I need to put off today? Help me to do that." He will. Trust him in that.
Be blessed today.
I pray that you continue to be strengthened by the word through the help of
these devotional videos. If they are a blessing to you would you share them with your
friends with your coworkers anyone that you know who also has a difficult time
getting in the word. Let this be the launching pad to a new habit to develop
time in the word every single day.

You’re tempted to doubt His care and involvement in your life because He feels so . . . absent. Victory feels elusive as if God intends it for everyone but you.
But God is never absent. He is as involved in your life today as He was when He protected Queen Esther and the entire Jewish nation from annihilation, and He will bring victory. Click here to purchase.
